03 / The year in context
The 2019 Silverado 1500 launched the T1XX generation with a four-engine lineup that ranges from a turbocharged four to the 6.2L V8. Service pacing stays familiar GM: the Oil Life System with a 7,500-mile ceiling, 45,000-mile air filters, 97,500-mile plugs, and five-year coolant and brake fluid.
Complexity moved into the driveline. Depending on engine and trim, the truck carries a 6, 8, or 10-speed automatic, and the fluids are not interchangeable across them. The severe schedule still halves transmission and axle intervals for trucks that work.
First-year-of-generation buyers should keep the recall record handy and the dipstick habit alive: DFM cylinder deactivation, like AFM before it, rewards owners who watch oil level between changes.
Shorter intervals
Frequent short trips, towing, dusty roads, extreme temperatures, and long idling shorten the intervals. The severe column in the table above shows by how much; the toggle in the mileage check applies it.
Check severe-use timing04 / Worth knowing
The V8s moved from AFM to Dynamic Fuel Management, which deactivates any combination of cylinders. The lifter hardware family is related, and oil level discipline remains the cheap defense.
Three transmissions reached this truck in 2019 alone. The 10-speed and 8-speed take different fluid than the 6-speed; identify the gearbox by RPO code before service.
The new 2.7L turbo four runs a shorter practical plug life than the V8s under load; have plugs inspected early on trucks that tow.
The previous-generation truck sold alongside this one in 2019 as the Silverado LD. The two share almost nothing; confirm which platform you own by VIN.
05 / Cost outlook
Estimated from this schedule over five years or 60,000 miles of normal driving. Parts, labor rates, location, and condition all move the total; treat these as planning figures.

08 / Common questions
The published interval is every 7,500 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. Under severe conditions such as short trips, towing, dust, or extreme temperatures, the interval drops to 5,000 miles.
Every available engine, the 2.7L I4 Turbo (L3B) and the 4.3L V6 EcoTec3 (LV3) and the 5.3L V8 (L84, Dynamic Fuel Management) and the 6.2L V8 (L87, Dynamic Fuel Management), uses a timing chain. There is no scheduled timing belt replacement.
2.7L I4 Turbo (L3B): 5W-30, 6 quarts with filter. 4.3L V6 EcoTec3 (LV3): 5W-30, 6 quarts with filter. 5.3L V8 (L84, Dynamic Fuel Management): 0W-20, 8 quarts with filter. 6.2L V8 (L87, Dynamic Fuel Management): 0W-20, 8 quarts with filter. Confirm the grade printed in the owner's manual before buying.
The schedule calls for spark plugs every 97,500 miles.
Plan on automatic transmission fluid every 97,500 miles, or 45,000 miles under severe use. Severe covers towing, plowing, and sustained hot-climate hauling.
Engine coolant is due every 150,000 miles. The specified coolant is Dexcool (orange).
The driveline adds its own fluids: differential gear oil and, where fitted, transfer case fluid. They are inexpensive services with long intervals under normal use, and much shorter ones under towing or off-road duty. The schedule table lists each with its interval.
Repeated trips under about five miles, extended idling, stop-and-go traffic in heat, dusty or gravel roads, towing, and sustained sub-freezing starts. If a few of those describe a typical week, use the severe column in the table above; most manufacturers write their fine print around exactly that kind of driving.
